Google News Announces Orion

The latest Google news is the acquisition of Orion, a new search engine, which Google purchased recently from a Ph.D student from the University of Wales. This search engine will not only search for a keyword, it will also offer suggestions of variations on the keyword in an attempt to offer the most information available on any topic. This has not been done before.
Google news reports that other search engine companies are wishing to implement this new software and will be bidding on it for exclusive rights. But is seems for right now that Google is the proud owner of Orion.
Orion, according to Google news, will also offer a short paragraph about the top websites that contain the keyword one is searching for so that the person can look quickly at the site without having to visit it. This will make searching for keywords much faster and easier. This is good news for Google who is already the leading search engine on the Internet. By having technology to make searches even faster, Google news will be even more popular than ever.
Webmasters will have to embed more keywords that pertain to the web site and try to add more variations on these keywords to make their sites more popular. This means more work for those who specialize in SEO writing.
In order to be a popular site on the web, webmasters will have to anticipate what people are searching for and make sure their sites are suggested by Google news. Maintaining a popular web site will become more difficult because everyone will be trying to be the top web site on the Internet. Google news reports that the new technology will be available soon.
Being able to conduct searches more effectively will help researchers and those who enjoy surfing the web. Search engines, like Orion, will make it possible for people to visit fewer sites when looking for a particular keyword. This will allow them to search for more keywords at one time. Google news will keep people informed as to when this new search engine will be available.
The program is still in its infancy right now, but when it is able to be used by the general public, Google news will be the first to share this exciting news. Students, researchers, and others who use the computer to conduct search will be very pleased with this new technology which will make searching the Internet much easier.

Working Of Laser Printers

Laser Printers are commonly used printers that are known for its rapid printing abilities. The other marked feature of a laser printer is the high quality text and graphics printing. It works basically on the principle of xerographic printing process. However, it is different from the analog photocopying machines in which the image produced is the result of direct scan of a laser beam on the photoreceptor of the printer.
Using a laser printer has a number of advantages over any other types of printers available. The speed of a laser printer varies from one model to another as it depends on a number of factors like the graphic intensity required in processing the job and others. The latest models of laser printers can print more than 200 single color pages in one minute, which is more than 12 thousand pages in an hour! The color laser printers are relatively slower, but even they can print at more than 100 pages per minute. The high speed laser printers are generally used for printing of mass mailings like utility or credit card bills etc.
The cost incurred in using the laser printing technology is dependent on more than one feature such as the cost of the toner, paper, once in a while replacement of the drum, and change required in other consumable parts of the printer like transfer assembly and the fuser assembly. Laser printers having drums made of soft plastic can be costlier in the long run than one can comprehend; its high overall cost becomes apparent only when the printer requires a drum replacement.
Another feature in the family of laser printers is the duplexing model. This allows printing on both sides of a paper without the need to remove the paper at all. This technology can cut paper cost directly into half and also lessen the filling volumes. Formerly, the duplexing technology was available only on the high-end laser printers. However, now they can be seen on a number of mid-range office laser printers. Although, the duplexing technology can reduce the printing speed to some extent as the paper path length increases.
The dot-matrix and inkjet printers take the incoming spooled data for the printer and directly print that on the paper making it a slow process which can stop as soon as the printer is waiting for more data. On the other hand, a laser printer cannot work this way, the reason being the large amount of data required to output to the printer in a continuous fashion. The printer cannot wait for data arrival and if that happens, there can be gaps and misalignment on the page.
To take care of the above problem, a printer buffer is used. The data is built up and kept in the large printer buffer that is generally present in the printer. This data bank is large enough to account for every single dot that can be printed on a page. However, this requirement of storing the dots in the memory before printing can begin has limited the printing capability of laser printers to small size like A4 or A3. Most laser printer cannot print long banners as there is no memory to hold that amount of data.
The printing takes place in seven steps. A Raster Image Processor scans the entire page line by line and stores a bitmap of the page in the raster memory. The drum is then charged negatively and the bitmap is written on the photosensitive drum using a laser beam whose functionality is dependent on the bitmap image. The charged toner particles are charged negatively and wherever the laser has not discharged the drum, the charges will repel and printing won`t take place, hence creating the required print out. The toner contains a plastic powder that is attracted to the parts where the laser beam hit and in the end the plastic powder is fused at 200 degree Celsius to bond the ink with the paper.

Xbox 360 - Gaming Redefined

The system was launched in Nov 2005 in three major regions - Europe, Japan and USA. The demand was stupendous and was sold out completely within a short span of its release. The gaming console competes with Sony Playstation 3 and Nintendo`s WII as part of seventh generation video game console.
There are three versions of Xbox 360: Arcade, Premium and Elite. Each version is backed by its own set of features, accessories and technology like wireless controller, re-chargable battery case, snazzy face plates incase the standard plain surface becomes too boring. Generally all three include hybrid, composite and component cable, a detachable 20GB hard disc drive which comes with game demos, video clips, and a free Live Arcade game.
Initially it started with the code name Xenon motherboard and subsequently re-engineered to Zephyr. The latest upgradation is a Falcon motherboard with an improved GPU heat sink. Right now the production unit is working on the next hardware refresh - GPU + CPU on the same BGA package.
The Xbox live arcade is a service that offers much more than simply downloading video games! The console actually throws up new original games, such as Assault Heroes other than the previous ones like MS Pac-Man.The Xbox video market place is an exclusive video store which can be assessed through the console. It allows the users to view HD TV Shows and Movies. The system also supports audio playback where the users may play back their own music with an interactive visual synthesizer. Pictures and slideshows can also be displayed with various transition effects by this system. These features make the Xbox a favorite of adults too along with the kids!
It is also interesting to note in this context that for a new game designer it is highly recommended that you download XNA Game Studio Express; it is an exclusive game which has been designed for easy creation of games for both Xbox 360 and windows. For developing Xbox 360 game you have to subscribe to the Creators Club apart from having Xbox 360 which has a hard drive.
In UK, the gaming console has been enabled to display BT vision, video content. The lastest video game Burnout 3 is available and till date Halo 3 is Xbox`s latest best selling game.
Xbox 360 was launched to capture the market before the arrival of Sony Playstation 3. This premature market entry had left some flaws in the hardware system undetected thereby earning itself negative publicity. However, newer designs have been introduced, and Microsoft has installed new heat sink to reduce overheating which ensures that the game console unit will last many years. Technically speaking, keeping the gaming system cool may lead to a longer lifespan of the gadget. Along with this, Microsoft has also extended the warranty period to three years in the Xbox gaming console.

Is Technology Costing You Time?

Technology today is truly a boon to improve time management skills. Yet, is technology costing you time? Let me explain.
Effective time management is really about self management specific to self leaderships skills including:
Goal setting
Attitudes (habits of thought)
Decision making
Problem solving
However, sometimes we fail to take action because we allow technology to cost us time. For example, do you have a slow running computer? You waste minutes each day that literally adds up to hundreds of dollars by the end of the year. Yet, do you make the phone call to a technology consultant to schedule an appointment to return your computer to its best running condition?
Do you have a cell phone or a computer that is old and starting to become less than efficient? However due to the cost replacing it, you decide to live with it for a little while longer. How much time are you losing?
The origins for the word technology means to systematically treat. Technology is to treat systems from making products to customer service help. When used properly, technology can help you reinvest your limited time into those areas where you can be far more productive.
To increase your personal productivity means that you must assess where you are now including your technology skills and various tools. Are they operating at their peak efficiency and effectiveness? If not, what actions have you planned to improve the performance of your technology?
When looking at those actions, will you need to assess your own self leadership skills specific to goal setting, decision making and problem solving? Remember, technology is truly just a tool to treat systems and not the magic cure for what ails you or your business. Take the time to make sure that technology is not costing you time and ultimately money.

Technology - Prosperity

Technology makes the world go 'round -- and the more sophisticated our world becomes, the more we can't live without it. But technology in the wrong hands (Lex Luthor, anyone?) can crash the entire system. That's why there's a need for qualified professionals behind the scenes in technology management. And, to sweeten the deal, with this great responsibility comes great financial rewards.
Opportunities AboundThe expansion of e-commerce and Wi-Fi has created excellent job opportunities for those who can manage business and technology effectively. That's where you'll find technology management -- at the place where business and technology intersect.
As a trained professional in this up-and-coming field, you're responsible for determining technical and business goals and making detailed plans for the accomplishment of these goals within your organization. Your job description might encompass everything from constructing a business plan to overseeing network security to directing Internet operations.
Training Is AvailableClearly, you'll need to be skilled in the latest technology to ensure your organization stays ahead of the competition. That's where a technology management degree comes in. With that kind of technical education, you'll gain core business, technology, and leadership skills that will prepare you to manage and deliver successful information systems and solutions.
A bachelor's degree is a typical prerequisite for a career in technology management, and a technology-specific MBA can give you the edge you'll need to succeed. Unlike a traditional MBA, a technology management degree emphasizes information technology in addition to standard business curriculum.
The Work Is Worth ItAccording to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), professionals in technology management held about 280,000 jobs in 2004. And employment is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2014.
If you have a technology management degree, job opportunities are plentiful, and the salary is sweet, too. In May 2004, the BLS reports median annual earnings for these managers were $92,570. And according to Robert Half International, a professional staffing and consulting services firm, average starting salaries for high-level information technology managers in 2005 ranged from $80,250 to $112,250.
With that kind of incentive, how can you refuse a technology career?

Credible Source for Incredible Result

It is human to get excited about anything new on the horizon. Naturally, e-commerce did create an excitement when it first dawned on the business scene. Many felt it an all-pervasive tool and quite a few an aid to business. The result: the former lot failed miserably, and the latter made a rich harvest. The moral of the story: technology and business practices, however great, demand market-orientation.
Can both business practices and technology be made market-oriented internally? Business Practices, yes, and Technology, no. Technology requires special knowledge and this knowledge rests with specialists. Trying to devise technology applications internally may divert your focus from the core vision: Business Practices.
Specialists are those who integrate individual business practices with e-commerce tools. This task enables an e-business to invite, offer and engage its target market on a mutually-fulfilling drive. Any mismatch between the offers on e-shop front (as perceived by visitors to your e-Shoppe) and the physical or factual delivery of the offers at rear front (as experienced by the visitors who turn out be your customers).
Therefore, the need to find dynamic e-commerce software solutions that can devise e-commerce modules in tune with specific business practices. But, beware! Look for credible sources*; or else they might fail you miserably!
* DynaShoppe E-commerce Solutions ( http://www.dynashoppe-ecommerce.com/ ) is one such dynamic technology application that has carved a niche for itself in designing and launching e-carts.

E-Commerce Fulfillment

E-commerce or electronic commerce can be defined as the buying and selling of goods and services on the Internet, especially the World Wide Web. For proper implementation of e-commerce it is of immense importance to have an e-commerce site where one can get involve with the buying and selling of goods and services. To be successful, E-commerce site should contain a shopping cart system and a payment processing system.
Timely delivery is one aspect that requires careful attention. In fact, timely delivery is one of the three main dimensions of competitiveness, the others being quality and cost. Timely delivery is also dependent, like quality and cost, on productivity, managerial effectiveness and infrastructural support. Delays have been part and parcel of the economic system for the ages, hindering the progress of an organization. Delays in delivery occur due to a variety of reasons. Delays in manufacturing, shipping delays and delays in transporting the manufactured products to the ports upset the delivery schedules. E-commerce is the one way which can minimize these delays.
For e-commerce fulfillment, the use of high-class communication technologies is vital. If companies have to achieve global industrial competitiveness, in the first place it is essential for them to bridge the technology gap in industrial production. The companies should produce what the overseas markets need and produce them to their technological specifications and standards. Upgrading technology is also the durable route for price competitiveness and quality improvement. The companies have to do their bit by opting for the latest technology, adapting it, working out technology tie-ups and by committing higher investment for technology upgradation. Even in the post-liberalization era, technology upgradation has been the missing ingredient. But thanks to its all-time availability, global reach, and interaction and information delivery capabilities, the Internet is rapidly becoming a multi-billion dollar source of revenue for business across the globe.
Fulfillment provides detailed information about fulfillment, e-commerce fulfillment, fulfillment and distribution, fulfillment companies and more. Fulfillment is the sister site of Point Of Sale Hardware.

GPS Technology

The Global Positioning System (GPS) has become a common feature on most cars available for purchase or rental. It's an easy, useful way to get where you're going quickly and efficiently. But do you know that GPS is based on technology that dates back more than 60 years?
The technology used to develop GPS originated in the 1940s with such radio-based navigational systems as the Long-Range Navigation or LORAN. The United States officially began research on the technology that would lead to the creation of GPS in 1957. The launch of the Soviet Satellite Sputnik had led to a massive panic in the U.S. about America's need to keep up with Communist Russia in the "Space Race."
A team of scientists led by Dr. Richard B. Kershner, first Space Department head of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, began work on what would become the first satellite navigation system, the Transit Navigation Satellite System. This system officially became operational in 1964. It was used by the Navy until 1996, where it was reported as having a success rate of 99.86 percent. Today, the Kersher Award is given annually to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the fields of navigation technology.
In the 1970s, work began on a formal GPS system. It took more than 20 years for it to become fully operational. The system was established by launching a series of satellites, the first of which was Block-I, launched in 1978.
The road to developing GPS was not without setbacks and tragedy. In 1983, the Soviets shot down a Korean passenger airliner in Soviet airspace with an interceptor aircraft prompting a worldwide outcry. This resulted in U.S. President Ronald Reagan declaring that once GPS was developed, it would be available to all U.S. citizens once completed.
The GPS system became fully operational in 1995. It has been continuously updated since then, with new satellites launched to replace the older models that are no longer functioning. The oldest functioning GPS satellite was originally launched in 1991.
GPS technology is now found almost everywhere, most notably in cell phones. According to the New York Times, during Thanksgiving week 2007, there were reported sales of more than $100 million for GPS units, up 237 percent from the previous year. This is due in part to the fact that advancing technology has made GPS units more affordable and accessible for most people. GPS units boasted more growth in sales than any other electronic device. They are now offered as a standard part of many automobiles, and as add-ons for existing automobiles.
GPS has a long and rich history. It serves as proof of what can be accomplished when a goal is set, and as a testimonial to the power of technology. With still more developments ahead in the future, GPS is like to become even more effective and accessible as time goes on. As rich as its past is, GPS is also likely to have a long and fruitful future.

RFID Tags

When RFID tags started gaining popularity the general view was that they would revolutionize the world and the industry. However, it did not happen and people were not so fast to accept RFID technology and its advantages. Nonetheless. RFID technology has evolved and new advances in this industry have been made.
The RFID industry is designing better systems and tags while ensuring the cost factor for both active and passive RFID tags reduce. It is a lot cheaper today to take advantage of RFID technology than it was ten years ago. The RFID tags have become smaller in size and have better batteries.
However, RFID technology is still a long way from taking the world by storm. If we take RFID tag use in Wal-Mart, one will realize that this giant uses it minimally. While Gillette’s dream for distribution and robotic factories has not been realized. Still, Gillette and the US military are taking this technology seriously and trying to find ways of using it better and more effectively.
The real challenge for the RFID industry, many say, could be the inability of the industry to produce the tags and readers cheaply and quickly on labels. If this can be done, then it would bring the RFID tags and readers at level with the bar code industry and will enable the retail industry to effectively use this technology. At the moment RFID technology is more popular with shipping and transporting companies to keep a track on consignment.
With companies like Horizon Components who have taken the RFID technology beyond the realms of shipping and transporting companies, the future for RFID technology is bright and optimistic. It will be real soon when we see this technology being a part of our day to day life.

Value Of Patent Information For Decision Makers

Planning the next generation technology and product thereof is an intricate problem. There are different ways to select a technology or improve an existing technology according to the consumer demand. The selection of right technology and methods is a very high risk proposition and has great impact on the future of any organization. Another way to get technology supremacy is through licensing, or acquisition and merger decisions. Intelligent mining and integration of patents, research literature and market information could provide highly valuable information and help strategic decision makers in reducing risk in technology selection, licensing or acquisition decisions.
For new product ideas or technology investment decisions, decision makers need a well organized technology and market forecast. Mining and intelligently analyzing the information to generate actionable intelligence is an art. Patents, non-patent literature (includes research articles, books, news, review articles, conference proceeding, dissertations and themes etc.,) and market information (includes market reports, news, annual reports, etc.,) contains huge amount of information and is not simple to locate the relevant information and further analyze it for generating meaningful insights. It require careful reading, innovative mind set, analytical approach and open for new ideas. Intelligent information mining provides as following information and makes the decision maker job easy:
Potential technologies and new research opportunities (technology maps)
Competitors activities, their strength and weakness
Tracking development and recent progress in a particular technology domain of interest.
Barriers of the technology and domain of interest.
New emerging competitors with related technologies
Small players having rights over potential technologies and improvement thereon.
Get informed about the Venture Capital (VC) activities in interested domains.
New licensing, acquisition of merger possibility.

Patent Technology Landscapes

Patent Technology Landscapes are the high-level visualization of large set of patent dataset specific to a particular technology. It provides over view of the various technological segments within the dataset and is very useful for the decision makers. These map further breaks into more specific detailed technological segments to visualize the technology co-relation, technology diversification and various technology trends. Mining of the huge dataset for specific technological detail is a laborious process. Presently various vendors such as Aureka from MicroPat provides automated generation of patent landscape maps for large datasets. The basis for the generation of these maps is the keyword frequency. Thus these maps require human intelligence to further refine it.
A patent landscape contains various other 2-D and 3-D technology graph to represent the various emerging, high-growth, mid-growth and low-growth areas in a particular technology, or across technology. It is helpful in extrapolating the concentration and trends of invention with large technology segments. Further, it also includes graphical representation of the Patent technology S-curve to show the pace of invention and patenting activity, in various technology segments.
A patent landscape helps in:
Categorization of large dataset into various technological segments.
Categorization company’s large patent portfolio
Identification of the possible competitors within a technology domain
Visualizing trends in a technology landscape over time
Comparing the portfolios of competitors companies
Identification of possible collaboration and acquisition and merger opportunities
Identification of possible research opportunities
In conclusion a patent technology landscape is a type of Technology Competitive Intelligence (TCI) report, which consists of visual representation of the analytic analysis of large patent dataset information in a particular technology domain. These reports typically organize and highlight patent filings trends, patent count by country, top patenting organization and other details. These reports help in identification of technology gaps and white spaces.

Pros And Cons Of Running Your Car On Water - Run A Car On Water Power

There are many people who are wondering whether it is beneficial or harmful to use this new technology that allows us to convert water into hydrogen or oxyhydrogen. The technology itself is of good virtue and theoretically, it is of 100% beneficial. However, upon testing with the technology, I do find some disadvantage of using it. You might want to know these if you want to run your car on water.
Firstly, the most noticeable advantage is we pay less for gas because we are increasing our gas mileage by mixing the flammable hydrogen or oxyhydrogen gas with our conventional fuel.
Secondly, the energy produced is very green. Hence, when we are running our car on water, we are helping to reduce the carbon emission into the atmosphere. Besides, we are also reducing the fossil fuel consumption.
However, the flip side of this technology is... You will need to know your car parts well. Even though the technology is claimed to be reversible and stable, I will not trust this technology if I'm traveling for a long distance. It is fine to travel within the town with it. So, you will need to remove the devices regularly if you need to travel for a long distance.
The second disadvantage is there is no proof that the technology will not harm our cars since the technology is still new. So, maybe when we run our car on water power, then our car life will be reduced?
In conclusion, every new technology will definitely have its pros and cons. The disadvantages will only be revealed over the time. Therefore, please keep in mind not to over use this technology when you want to run your car on water power.
If you are interested in modifying your car to run on water, you can visit this Run Your Car On Water website to get more information on this technology.

IT Philosophy 303

One of the biggest problems with information technology is when a government agency or business installs a huge IT system and then later on needs to upgrade it and the technology and hardware is so old and the new next generation of technology is now available. Often it is very hard to justify the expenditure of upgrading the entire system to the latest technology even though the latest technology may blow the doors off of the current system.
As the rapid advancing technology and information systems grows at a rapid pace due to the innovation and research and development sometimes it makes sense to wait to implement the next generation of IT systems in the future. Of course an organization or business cannot wait forever and eventually it has to decide on a system and implement it.
Unfortunately, once you decide on an information technology system and the corresponding hardware and then design it and finally implement a system, there is already a new generation of technology that is better. Of course the organization or business now wants the new technology and therefore implements changes in its current system to upgrade.
Indeed, when you upgrade an old system you need to use patchware. Patchware is software that allows the software from the old system to interface with software from the new system, consider it a bridge between the old technology and the new technology. Each time Patchware is implemented more things can go wrong in the computer code and you have introduced more people into the program and loose lips can sink ships. Meaning, that this information can get in the hands of hackers who can get into your information technology system and hurt its integrity or put in malicious code.
Information technology philosophy is very important to consider before spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to implement a system, which is to provide more efficiency and stability to your government agency or corporation, because if it is done incorrectly, then the whole system could crash along with your entire company or agency. Please consider this in 2006.

Are You Pro Technology or Pro Human?

There is a growing number of people who are becoming anti-technology these days. Recently in a long debate with a very “Pro-Human” individual as he wished to be called; we discussed the possibility that you are either pro-human or you are against us? I laughed and said well I am pro-human. He said well if you are pro-human you must be anti-technology.
That of course is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my entire life. He was basically calling technology evil and treating the “pro-human” movement a new religion. So I explained to him my position and platform, borrowing the political term.
“I am pro technology, anti religion and pro forward progression of the human race and I am pro-Capitalism, pro free markets and pro-strength of the individual. I do not believe anyone has to choose as it is not an either or, but rather a “both or all” choice and thus we must move forward.”
Why would one be against technology? Technology is good and it gives us all more free time to be more human with. I further said to him that I believed that the more technology we could have the better and I was for promoting technology whenever I could; Damn the torpedoes “full steam ahead” or in this case “warp 10 and lets bend some space time shall we?” If all this means taking some risks, then lets take some risks, stop living in fear and start moving to our destiny.
You see folks, technology is neither good or bad. If technology is used in an evil way then that is because man or those “pro-human” movement people allowed it to be used that way. Technology does not kill people; people kill people. Think on this in 2006.

Technology Outsourcing to Chindia?

If you've never heard the term Chindia before, it refers to China-India. In the case of outsourcing, they are currently a powerhouse, leading the world in technology-based outsourcing. But, what makes China and India such powerful players in the technology outsourcing market? In this article, I will attempt to explain why they're currently at the top of the technology field, and why they are making such an impact in the realm of technology outsourcing.
China and India are the two most populous nations in the world. Together, they make up close to 40% of the earth's total population with a combined total of about 2.4 billion people. When you add the fact that India and China are producing some of the best trained computer science, and electrical engineering graduates, and they can be hired for a lot less than their Western counterparts, you have a technology outsourcing bonanza.
China and India are able to offer their technology outsourcing services at a lower cost to companies in America, Europe, Australia and Asia. But low cost does not imply low quality. On the contrary, both China and India are becoming innovators in both software and hardware development.
In the past, the main focus of Chindia's outsourcing was low cost manufacturing, and low-cost services. But with China and India taking on leading roles as technology innovators, and with hundreds of thousands of highly educated, highly trained computer scientists and engineers at their disposal, the impact that they are having on the technology outsourcing field can no longer be ignored.
Technology outsourcing to China and India will continue to grow in the coming years. The floodgates have been opened and won't close any time soon. As long as China and India continue to provide quality, low cost, technology outsourcing services, companies in America, and other Western countries, will continue to see the benefits of outsourcing their IT to Chindia.

Technology Conferences 2008

In the last few years technology has had a massive impact on the way the world of business functions. For example, in the 1990's Information technology and the information super highway were the sought after investment options. People were investing in newer ventures that didn't even have one year of proven track record.
As a result, the dot com bubble burst and many a new company was closed down. Now, newer technologies like clean tech have started to attract venture capitalists. While clean tech investing only formed about 2% of all venture capital investments in 2002, it has increased to 15% in the last year.
But will clean tech be able to deliver what it promises or will it once again be a dot com bubble? The technology conferences in 2008 will aim to decipher some popular questions related to new technologies and growth prospects for existing ones.
International Conference on Technology
The International Conference on Technology will be held at Northeastern University in Boston. The conference will have an elite list of speakers who will discuss extremely complex issues like the relationship between technology and society. As a participant, you can also present a 30 minute paper on one of the issues under discussion.
The semantic technology conference
The semantic technology conference will be held at San Jose in California. The conference will be attended in large numbers by CTOs and Strategists, CEOs of software startups, venture capitalists, Software Developers, technology consultants and everyone who wishes to gain a better understanding of semantic web technology.
It is said that semantic web technology is all set to change the way we look for information on the internet. The conference will highlight some of the best semantic queries, Semantic Rules, case studies, Web 3.0, Semantic Service Oriented Architectures etc. If you are a part of the virtual business world, then this is one conference that you want to be a part of.

Customer Loyalty in the Technology Industry

For technology companies, service after the sale has emerged on equal footing with innovation as a competitive advantage.
As technology-related products and services touch nearly every area of our lives and our businesses, technology has become integrated in how we communicate, learn, work, and entertain ourselves. Our appetite for technology products is growing, even in today’s economic climate.
Traditionally, technology companies competed for this business by delivering more innovative, reliable products and services at lower prices. In the audio book, “Sound Advice on Customer Loyalty,” author Steve Walker says customer expectations are changing.
“Contracting markets and increasing commoditization of technology products have combined to give the customer the upper hand,” says Walker. “Technology companies must become more responsive to the ever changing needs of their customers.”
According to recent customer studies, this translates into a demand for improved customer support.
“Customers are expecting better technical and non-technical customer service,” says Walker. “Our research shows that service after the sale has emerged on at least equal footing with innovation as a competitive advantage for technology companies.”
“While the potential for technology companies is great, the need to manage customer loyalty in such a dynamic market is even greater,” says Walker. “For technology companies, a focus on customers will only add more value to the innovative products and services they are expected to deliver.”
Steve Walker offers advice on managing customer loyalty each week in the free audio newsletter from What’s Working in Biz, http://www.whatsworking.biz/full_story.asp?ArtID=92

New Computer Technology - When is Enough, Enough?

New computer technology comes out continuously. As a computer consultant you probably want to keep up with all the new computer technology that comes along. You're most likely in love with technology - always looking for a new intrusion protection product to play with or another border-gateway protocol. What you have to realize is that your small business clients aren't experimenting with new computer technology and so you shouldn't be wasting your time investigating it.
New Computer Technology Distractions
New computer technology is a distraction you can't afford. It's easy to get caught-up with keeping-up, but, no one is paying you for your raw technical knowledge. They aren't paying you for knowing the latest new computer technology, they are paying you for knowing the technology they are using.
If you've been in corporate IT for a long time you're way ahead of the average small business anyway. The average small business is going to be at least six to twelve sometimes even 18 months behind the new computer technology you see in the average enterprise IT shop.
In the early stages of your business, you have to put learning new computer technology on the back burner. Adjust your priorities and put 90 percent of your R&D on the back burner for the next three to six months. Concentrate on finding paying clients. If those paying clients start demanding skills with new computer technology, that's when you invest your time and energy.
The Bottom Line on New Computer Technology
You're in the business you're in because you love new computer technology. Unfortunately, in the business building stage you can't afford to spend your time learning, you have to spend your time doing - and getting paid for doing it. New computer technology isn't being used in the majority of clients' applications anyway. Put your passion for new computer technology on hold for a while and be passionate about finding steady, paying customers.

Managing Technology in an Organization

Today integrating technology is the buzzword, business leaders across the world can't stop discussing about how technology will transform our present business environment. How tech savvy companies will extinct the rudimentary one. Learning from late nineties dotcom bust, we know technology is no one pill panacea for business problems but a tool which make our management efficient and effective. Technology enables us to have more information to take our decisions but it can't take our decision. The decisions still has to be taken by humans behind it.
Management faces some real time difficulties in managing technology - the foremost among them is - when is the right time to invest in technology. Most business fear to invest at present stage as they believe that technology is changing so fast that investment made today will become rudimentary in the near future and the investments might not able to realize the total cost incurred in it.
Secondly when and how to move to the next stage - Apart from going ahead with investing in technology for the first time, the company has to chart out a detailed plan on how it will phase out the present technological level to move to next level. Gradual transformation over the period of time holds the key in managing technology both on the shop floor and on the balance sheet.
Technology is not only changing paradigm of how to do business but it also taking it to the next level where most industry player will not only look at technology just to cut costs but also to drive innovations and efficiencies.
